Nova Bus, a Canadian leader in electric bus manufacturing and part of the Volvo Group, has been awarded a major contract to supply Calgary Transit with its first 120 LFSe+ fully electric city buses. Production will begin in 2027 at Nova Bus’s Canadian factories.

The deal builds on a partnership spanning more than 15 years and aligns with Calgary Transit’s push to decarbonize its fleet, expand service, and cut long-term operational costs. The investment is supported by the federal government.

“These buses will complement Calgary’s current fleet of CNG and diesel Nova Bus models, advancing our shared commitment to innovation and sustainability,” said Paul Le Houillier, President of Nova Bus.

The LFSe+ model offers two charging options—overhead pantograph and dual-side plug-in—making it adaptable to existing infrastructure and enabling efficient route planning. Already deployed in cities across North America, the LFSe+ is designed to meet the rigorous demands of major urban transit systems.

Nova Bus’s latest win reinforces Canada’s role in advancing clean transportation technologies while supporting domestic manufacturing and greener urban mobility.
