In a remarkable display of engineering prowess and commitment to sustainable innovation, Greaves Electric Mobility Limited (GEML) has set a new benchmark in India’s electric vehicle landscape. Its latest 3-wheeler passenger EV, the Eltra City XTRA, successfully completed a 324-kilometre journey from Bengaluru, Karnataka to Ranipet, Tamil Nadu on a single charge, earning a place in the India Book of Records.
The record-breaking run, dubbed “Freedom Ride 2.0,” was flagged off from the Greaves Electric Mobility Tech Center in Bengaluru and concluded at Ampere’s factory in Ranipet. The journey stood as a powerful symbol of India’s strides toward technological self-reliance, clean mobility, and Greaves’ brand values of XTRA performance, XTRA safety, and XTRA trust.
This is more than just a record—it’s a reaffirmation of our commitment to providing dependable, high-performance electric mobility solutions for everyday entrepreneurs,” said Manoj M P, Chief Business Officer, GEML.
The Eltra City XTRA, launched earlier this month, is an advanced successor to the 2024’s Eltra City, which completed a 225-km ride from Bengaluru to Mysore. Engineered under the banner of “Technology Latest, Trust Highest,” the new model features a powerful LFP battery, intelligent digital interface, and best-in-class components, ensuring greater efficiency, reduced running costs, and enhanced driver comfort.
With a top speed of 60 kmph and a true range of ~170 km (with driver plus three passengers), the vehicle is designed for both city and peri-urban use. It handles up to 330 kg of payload, climbs gradients of 12°, and includes 12” radial tyres for improved ground clearance. The 6.2” PMVA digital cluster with BLE connectivity offers real-time data, navigation, and distance-to-empty information. A 9.5 kW peak motor and 10.75 kWh IP67-rated battery allow the EV to charge in just 4–5 hours.
The Eltra City XTRA is backed by a 5-year or 1.2 lakh km battery warranty and a 3-year or 80,000 km vehicle warranty, making it a reliable long-term partner for EV fleet owners and individual drivers alike.
This Freedom Ride 2.0 isn’t just about distance—it’s about impact. It shows how our products are empowering livelihoods while supporting India’s green goals. The Eltra City XTRA is built for tomorrow’s roads, today,” said Vikas Singh, MD, GEML.
As India accelerates toward its clean energy goals, Greaves Electric Mobility continues to lead the charge, leveraging its 165-year-old Greaves Cotton legacy and pan-India service network to deliver future-ready, sustainable transport solutions.
