In a major step toward sustainable electric mobility in India, VinFast Auto India, a subsidiary of global EV manufacturer VinFast, has signed a strategic agreement with BatX Energies—an Indian clean-tech pioneer in battery recycling and critical mineral recovery. The partnership marks a significant move to establish a high-voltage (HV) battery recycling and repurposing ecosystem within the country.
As per the agreement, BatX Energies will provide end-to-end solutions for VinFast’s battery lifecycle—recycling, material recovery, and repurposing of high-voltage batteries used in VinFast’s operations and EVs. The process will ensure efficient reclamation of key materials like lithium, cobalt, and nickel, which will be reintegrated into VinFast’s battery production cycle. This initiative aligns with the broader goal of resource circularity and environmental sustainability.
Commenting on the partnership, Mr. Pham Sanh Chau, CEO of VinFast Asia, said, “This partnership with BatX Energies is a meaningful step toward building a sustainable, circular battery ecosystem in India. At VinFast, sustainability goes beyond vehicles—it’s about environmental responsibility across the entire lifecycle.”
BatX Energies will also enable traceability of raw materials and facilitate second-life battery applications, contributing to India’s vision of a circular economy. Mr. Utkarsh Singh, CEO of BatX Energies, remarked, “By enabling sustainable end-of-life solutions for EV batteries, we are building infrastructure that can grow with the industry and create lasting environmental impact.”
This collaboration adds to VinFast’s growing list of partnerships in India aimed at developing a robust EV ecosystem. The company has previously announced tie-ups with Global Assure for roadside assistance, myTVS and RoadGrid for after-sales service and charging infrastructure.
VinFast is preparing to launch its first two electric SUV models—VF 6 and VF 7—in India. To support this rollout, the company is rapidly scaling operations at its manufacturing facility in Thoothukudi, while investing heavily in dealership networks and nationwide charging solutions.
