In a stunning revival of American automotive heritage, Innovative EV Technologies, Inc., doing business as E-Cite Motors Group, has secured the design and production rights to the iconic Kaiser-Darrin and will reintroduce it as the EV-DT — a fully electric, high-performance vehicle that blends vintage elegance with modern innovation.
Originally debuting in 1954, the Kaiser-Darrin made history as America’s first fiberglass-bodied sports car, renowned for its sleek sliding pocket doors and sculpted bodywork by legendary designer Howard “Dutch” Darrin. E-Cite’s EV-DT reimagines this classic with a futuristic twist, built on the company’s proprietary aluminum EV chassis and shared driveline technology used in its EV-GT and EV-C3 models.
The Kaiser-Darrin is not just a car — it’s a rolling sculpture,” said Gene Langmesser, COO and veteran automotive designer. “We’re bringing this sculpture into the EV era without losing an ounce of its soul.
CEO Barry Henthorn confirmed that the EV-DT will utilize the company’s lightweight modular architecture, allowing for agile performance, increased efficiency, and accelerated development — all while maintaining safety and environmental standards. The EV-DT’s engineering ensures compatibility with multiple battery configurations and offers best-in-class sustainability.
The announcement comes shortly after E-Cite revealed its groundbreaking RJ9 electric truck, boasting an industry-leading 900-mile range — positioning the company as a disruptor in both utility and performance EV segments.
Prototypes of the EV-DT are expected to be revealed in alignment with the production timelines of E-Cite’s current vehicle lineup. More specifications, range details, and pricing will be shared in future updates.
