VinFast, Vietnam’s pioneering electric vehicle manufacturer, has officially inaugurated its state-of-the-art EV manufacturing plant in the Vũng Áng Economic Zone, Hà Tĩnh Province, less than seven months after breaking ground. Spanning 360,000 square meters with a designed annual capacity of 200,000 vehicles, the Hà Tĩnh facility is VinFast’s fifth manufacturing site worldwide and its second operational EV plant in Vietnam.

The inauguration ceremony was attended by Deputy Prime Minister Nguyễn Chí Dũng, alongside senior leaders from the Party, the Government, and Hà Tĩnh Province. Their presence underscored the plant’s significance to both regional and national development.

Equipped with cutting-edge technologies from global giants such as ABB, DÜRR, FANUC, and SIEMENS, the Hà Tĩnh factory features high automation and strictly adheres to international standards including ISO 9001, ISO 14001, and IATF 16949. The facility includes vital workshops such as Body Welding, Painting, General Assembly, a Logistics Warehouse, and a Quality Control Center.

In its initial phase, the plant will focus on producing compact urban EVs like the VF 3, Minio Green, and EC Van, targeting both domestic consumers and international markets. With a production rate of 35 vehicles per hour, VinFast plans to scale operations further in line with market demand.

The Hà Tĩnh plant is expected to generate around 6,000 direct jobs initially, with potential expansion to 15,000, significantly contributing to local employment and the regional economy. An additional 240,000-square-meter auxiliary cluster is under construction, supporting VinFast’s goal to achieve over 80% localization in EV production by 2026.

Mr. Võ Trọng Hải, Deputy Secretary of the Hà Tĩnh Provincial Party Committee and Chairman of the Provincial People’s Committee, lauded VinFast’s investment and affirmed provincial support for the project. “This plant will become a modern, eco-friendly automotive hub driving Hà Tĩnh’s sustainable economic growth,” he stated.

Vingroup Vice Chairman and CEO Mr. Nguyễn Việt Quang emphasized the plant’s role in VinFast’s long-term strategy. “This milestone brings us closer to our target of producing one million EVs annually and showcases our autonomy, innovation, and commitment to sustainable mobility,” he said.

VinFast’s rapid progress is evident: in the first five months of 2025, it became Vietnam’s top-selling auto brand, delivering over 56,000 vehicles. Its models VF 3, VF 5, and VF 6 have become market leaders, while international demand continues to grow, particularly in the Philippines and Indonesia.
