Maruti Suzuki Dzire Becomes India’s First 5-Star Sedan in Bharat NCAP Safety Ratings

In a landmark achievement for Indian automotive safety, Maruti Suzuki India Limited has earned a comprehensive 5-star safety rating under the Bharat New Car Assessment Program (Bharat NCAP) for its All-New Dzire, making it the first sedan in the country to achieve this distinction. The prestigious certificate was presented by Shri Nitin Gadkari, Hon’ble Minister of Road Transport and Highways.

Maruti Suzuki’s New Age Baleno also showcased strong performance with a commendable 4-star rating in the same safety assessment program.

The Bharat NCAP follows rigorous safety testing protocols on par with global standards, aimed at enhancing consumer awareness and encouraging manufacturers to adopt advanced safety technologies.

It gives me immense pride to see Made-in-India high volume mainstream cars achieve exemplary safety ratings under Bharat NCAP,” said Shri Gadkari. “Maruti Suzuki’s swift adoption of 6 airbags across all segments, from entry hatchbacks to premium SUVs, sets a new benchmark for mass manufacturers.

Commitment to Safety

Reinforcing its commitment, Maruti Suzuki announced that all passenger vehicles sold within this year will feature 6 airbags as standard. Currently, the company already offers 6 airbags across variants in 10 models including the Alto K10, Celerio, WagonR, Eeco, Swift, Dzire, Brezza, Grand Vitara, Jimny, and Invicto.

In addition, Electronic Stability Program+ (ESP®) is now standard across all 18 Maruti Suzuki models, making it the widest portfolio in the country with ESP-equipped vehicles, a claim independently verified by JATO Dynamics Limited.
