Building on its best-ever monthly sales performance in April, Kia Canada has achieved another milestone with 9,845 units sold in May, marking its second-highest monthly sales in company history. The impressive figure reflects a +19.9% year-over-year growth, further reinforcing the brand’s momentum in the Canadian market.
At the forefront of this success is the 2026 Kia Sportage, which notched its best monthly sales ever with 2,651 units sold. The refreshed Sportage, now available with ICE, hybrid (HEV), and plug-in hybrid (PHEV) powertrains, has resonated strongly with Canadian consumers seeking versatility, design upgrades, and advanced technology. The HEV and PHEV variants are expected to arrive at dealerships later this year, further boosting demand.
Achieving back-to-back record sales months is extremely exciting for the brand, said Elias El-Achhab, Vice President and COO of Kia Canada. The record-setting sales numbers for Sportage continue to demonstrate consumer demand and market competitiveness for our number one selling SUV.
Joining the Sportage in Kia Canada’s May sales top three were the Kia Seltos, with 1,688 units sold, and the Sorento, with 1,590 units. The strong showing across Kia’s SUV lineup reflects growing consumer confidence in the brand’s evolving vehicle offerings.
With a robust product mix and sustained consumer interest, Kia Canada is poised to continue its strong performance into the second half of 2025.
