In a major push towards green mobility, Blue Energy Motors Ltd., a trailblazer in clean-energy trucking and a key partner in Essar’s green mobility initiative, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Government of Maharashtra at the World Economic Forum in Davos. The agreement signals the company’s ambitious plan to invest ₹3500 crore in setting up a world-class electric truck manufacturing facility in the state.
The proposed facility will be equipped with cutting-edge R&D units, battery-pack assembly lines, motor production systems, and a network of EV charging stations. With a target to manufacture 30,000 electric trucks, the initiative is expected to generate over 4,000 direct jobs, boosting both industrial development and green employment in Maharashtra.
“This landmark partnership is a significant step in our journey to revolutionize green trucking in India,” said Anirudh Bhuwalka, CEO of Blue Energy Motors. “Aligned with Essar’s green mobility vision, this project not only supports Maharashtra’s clean energy goals but also reinforces the state’s status as a global hub for sustainable industrial innovation.”
The project is scheduled to kick off in FY 2025-26, with the facility promising to use AI and ML-enabled systems to produce zero-emission commercial EVs. These advanced heavy-duty trucks are designed for high efficiency and reliability, marking a leap forward in India’s efforts to combat climate change and decarbonize freight transport.
Officials from both parties emphasized that the initiative will play a key role in Maharashtra’s green transition, positioning the state at the forefront of India’s clean energy revolution.
