Circle K has officially opened its first electric vehicle (EV) charging-only location in Europe, located in Gårda, just outside central Gothenburg, Sweden. Equipped with ten ultra-fast 400 kW chargers and a 100 m² (1,076 ft²) convenience store, the site marks the largest EV-only charging convenience hub in the company’s global network.
Strategically situated along the busy E6 motorway, which sees more than 100,000 vehicles daily, Circle K Gårda is built to serve the growing number of EV drivers and nearby workers. The high-powered chargers can take most vehicles from 0 to 80 percent in about 15 minutes. While charging, customers can enjoy fresh food options like pizza, kebab, and award-winning sausage in a welcoming retail space designed for relaxation and social connection.
Hans-Olav Høidahl, EVP European Operations and Global eMobility, said, “Our new location at Gårda marks a significant step in our ambition to win the EV customer – offering easy and convenient charging with a complete retail experience. With ultra-fast chargers, great food and beverage options, Wi-Fi and ample seating, the site has been designed to meet our customers’ needs. It’s a safe harbor on the road, and a clear step forward in our ambition to be the preferred on-the-go charging destination across Europe.”
The Gårda launch comes shortly after the opening of Circle K’s largest EV charging site in Järna, Sweden, and adds to its fast-growing European charging network, which now features over 3,000 branded chargers. With a presence in approximately 17,000 locations globally, Circle K is uniquely positioned to lead the shift toward electric mobility by combining high-speed charging with top-tier convenience retail.
