In a major boost to India’s green mobility push, GreenCell Mobility, India’s leading electric mass mobility company backed by Eversource Capital, has been awarded the Letter of Award (LOA) for the supply and deployment of 472 electric buses in Madhya Pradesh under the PM E-Bus Sewa Scheme. The company has partnered with VE Commercial Vehicles (VECV) to deliver these state-of-the-art Eicher electric buses across six cities in the state.
Simultaneously, GreenCell Mobility is set to execute another large-scale deployment in Andhra Pradesh, where it will roll out 750 cutting-edge electric buses in collaboration with Pinnacle Mobility Solutions (EKA Mobility). This dual achievement marks a significant milestone in the company’s mission to electrify public transport across India.
The Madhya Pradesh deployment under the central government’s PM E-Bus Sewa Scheme is part of a broader national effort to introduce 10,000 electric buses across the country. In FY 2024-25, Convergence Energy Services Limited (CESL) floated a tender for 4,588 electric buses, reinforcing the Government of India’s commitment to sustainable and clean mobility.
Commenting on the milestone, Mr. Devndra Chawla, MD & CEO of GreenCell Mobility, said, “GreenCell Mobility is honored to collaborate with the Governments of Andhra Pradesh and Madhya Pradesh to support the state’s transition to sustainable public transport. These projects are a major milestone in our mission to transform mass mobility through zero-emission electric buses. Backed by strategic partnerships with leading OEMs and a robust financing model, we are committed to making clean, efficient public transportation accessible throughout India’s growing cities—while delivering a safe, reliable, and superior guest experience.”
Mr. Vinod Aggarwal, MD & CEO of VE Commercial Vehicles, added, “We are delighted to take the next step with GreenCell Mobility by introducing Eicher electric buses in their operations under the PM E-Bus Sewa Scheme. These buses are built on reliable technology and have already clocked 1.4 crore kms across India. It is a matter of pride for us that these buses will operate in the state of Madhya Pradesh, which has been home to Eicher Trucks and Buses for over four decades.”
On the Andhra Pradesh project, Dr. Sudhir Mehta, Founder & Chairman of EKA Mobility and Pinnacle Industries Limited, stated, “We are proud to partner with the Government of Andhra Pradesh and collaborate with GreenCell Mobility to deliver green, smart, and efficient transportation solutions. This partnership marks a significant step toward building smarter, more sustainable cities across India.”
GreenCell Mobility already operates 900 electric buses across Uttar Pradesh, Gujarat, and Maharashtra. With the addition of the new contracts, the company is set to expand its footprint significantly across central and southern India.
The deployed electric buses are designed for performance and passenger comfort, offering over 250 km range per charge, fast-charging capabilities, and AI-powered energy optimization. These zero-emission vehicles feature air conditioning, real-time GPS tracking, CCTV surveillance, ergonomic seating, low-noise operation, and advanced safety systems—ensuring a premium and secure commuting experience.
These back-to-back awards solidify GreenCell Mobility’s position as a key driver in India’s clean transport revolution and reaffirm its commitment to building a sustainable, electrified future for urban mobility.
