Hot Wheels, in collaboration with Mercedes-Benz, has launched a breathtakingly detailed 1:12 scale model of the legendary Mercedes-Benz 300 SL. Known for its innovative gullwing doors and groundbreaking performance, the 300 SL was the fastest car of its time, reaching speeds of up to 250 km/h.
Now, collectors and enthusiasts alike can own a miniature version of this iconic sports car, which has earned a place in automotive history. Voted “Sports Car of the Century” by a jury of motoring journalists in 1999, the Mercedes-Benz 300 SL continues to captivate car fans, both on the road and on the racetrack.
The meticulously crafted model, produced as part of Hot Wheels’ new Premium Series line, is a faithful reproduction that consists of 1,600 individual parts. Designer Benoit Monterroso, working alongside Hot Wheels’ Craig Callum, has recreated the car’s distinct features, from the iconic gullwing doors to its elegant bodywork and bold front grille.
Measuring 36 cm in length and 10 cm in height, the model includes premium details such as metal rear-view mirrors, a two-spoke steering wheel designed specifically for Mercedes-Benz, and fully functional parts, including an opening bonnet, boot, and gullwing doors. The model also comes with a Hot Wheels “Signature Plate” that can be used as a key fob or displayed on the car’s floor.
To enhance its authenticity, the set features customizable pieces, including different wheels, headlights, a new radiator grille, alternative seat, side skirts, and exhaust pipes. A spare tyre in the boot completes the realistic design.The entire model comes in high-quality packaging, perfect for collectors.
