Just steps away from landmarks such as Tokyo Tower, the historic Zojoji Temple, and the expansive Shiba Park—established in 1873—the area seamlessly blends green spaces with modern architecture.
Effortless and Accessible Charging
The two-story hub is inspired by Audi’s pilot facility in Nuremberg. At its core is a PowerX hypercharger located on the ground floor, capable of charging two electric vehicles simultaneously at up to 150 kilowatts (kW).
A patented Audi swivel arm, mounted above the hypercharger, streamlines the charging process. Designed for ease of use, the system keeps cables off the ground and ensures convenient access to vehicle ports. This user-friendly technology has already proven successful at Audi locations across Europe.
True to Audi’s inclusive approach, the Shibakōen hub is brand-agnostic—compatible with all EV models, not just Audi vehicles.
Relax While You Recharge
Upstairs, a 50-square-meter lounge offers customers a quiet, comfortable space to relax while their vehicle charges. Access is granted via a code sent to the user’s smartphone as soon as charging begins, making the experience both seamless and secure.
Efficient Energy Use with Renewable Power
Like all Audi charging hubs, the Shibakōen facility relies entirely on renewable energy. Its integrated battery buffer minimizes strain on the local power grid, eliminating the need for complex infrastructure like high-voltage lines or costly transformers.
A Growing Commitment to Electric Mobility
Since opening on April 26, 2024, the Shibakōen hub has supported over 2,500 charging sessions, demonstrating strong demand in the Tokyo area. Encouraged by this response, Audi is planning additional hubs across the city. Meanwhile, a second Audi charging hub is slated to open in Munich in early fall, reinforcing the brand’s global push for sustainable urban mobility.
