Maharashtra has approved a comprehensive Electric Vehicle (EV) Policy for 2025, aiming to accelerate the adoption of clean transportation across the state. The policy introduces a range of incentives to encourage both consumers and businesses to transition to electric mobility.
One of the key features of the policy is the financial support for EV buyers. Passenger electric vehicles will receive a subsidy, making them more affordable for consumers. Additionally, these vehicles will be exempt from road tax and registration charges, further reducing the overall cost of ownership.
To promote the adoption of EVs in public transportation, the policy outlines plans to electrify a significant portion of the state’s bus fleet. A target has been set to convert a substantial percentage of buses to electric by 2025, contributing to a reduction in emissions and improved air quality.
Recognizing the importance of charging infrastructure, the policy includes measures to enhance the availability of EV charging stations. Incentives will be provided for the establishment of charging points, ensuring that EV users have convenient access to charging facilities.
Furthermore, the policy aims to foster innovation and growth in the EV sector by encouraging the development of advanced battery technologies. Support will be extended to initiatives focused on research and development in battery technology, which is crucial for the advancement of electric mobility.
Through these initiatives, Maharashtra seeks to position itself as a leader in the adoption of electric vehicles, contributing to environmental sustainability and the promotion of clean energy solutions.
