In a landmark move towards cleaner and smarter urban transport, the Hon’ble Chief Minister of Delhi, Smt. Rekha Gupta, along with Hon’ble Union Minister Shri Dharmendra Pradhan, flagged off 400 new Delhi Electric Vehicle Interconnector (DEVi) electric buses from the Kushak Nallah Depot. Among these, 120 buses have been manufactured by JBM Group, India’s leading electric bus maker, and will be operated from the Ghazipur Depot, serving multiple neighborhoods across the national capital.
These state-of-the-art buses are equipped with an Intelligent Transport Management System (ITMS) to provide efficient, connected, and sustainable last-mile mobility on key city routes. The initiative further strengthens Delhi’s electric mobility infrastructure, which already includes over 2,000 electric buses currently in operation.
JBM Group Powers Sustainable Public Transport
Marking a significant milestone, this launch comes as JBM Auto celebrates a decade in the public mobility sector. With the addition of these 120 ECOLIFE electric buses, the company now has over 650 e-buses deployed in Delhi, reinforcing its commitment to clean transport solutions.
Commenting on the occasion, Mr. Nishant Arya, Vice Chairman of JBM Auto, stated:
“Today’s launch is a reflection of how collaborative innovation between government and industry can redefine urban mobility. At JBM, we are building a holistic ecosystem that integrates clean energy, intelligent systems, and digital infrastructure.”
The newly launched JBM ECOLIFE Zero-Emission Vehicle (ZEV) is expected to save up to 1,000 tons of CO₂ emissions and 420,000 litres of diesel over a 10-year operational life. The ECOLIFE buses are equipped with advanced features including:
- Real-Time Passenger Information System for live tracking
- CCTV Surveillance for onboard security
- Stop Request Buttons for rider convenience
- Fire Detection and Alarm Systems
- Vehicle Health Monitoring System for proactive maintenance
- Driver-friendly ergonomic dashboards also contribute to a safer and more efficient driving experience.
A Bold Step Towards Greener Cities
This initiative aligns with Delhi’s vision of becoming a national leader in sustainable and smart mobility. JBM’s integrated electric bus manufacturing facility—the world’s largest outside China—located in Delhi-NCR, supports this growing demand with a production capacity of 20,000 electric buses annually.
With an ambitious target to serve over 20 billion passengers and complete 3 billion electric kilometres in the next 3–4 years, JBM is setting a new benchmark for future-ready and globally competitive green mobility solutions.
Delhi’s continued push for electric vehicles not only reaffirms its environmental commitment but also aligns with India’s broader goals for climate resilience, urban innovation, and inclusive public transport.
