Zuperia Auto Private Limited, formerly known as Lohia Auto Industries, is poised to lead India’s rapidly evolving electric vehicle (EV) market, with a specific focus on electric cargo and garbage collection vehicles. The company has rebranded with the introduction of its new ‘Youdha’ brand, alongside its well-established ‘Lohia’ brand, to cater to both mass-market institutional clients and premium customers.

In a year marked by significant growth for India’s commercial EV sector, the electric three-wheeler (e3W) market saw a surge in sales, with 694,466 units sold in 2024—an 18% increase compared to the previous year. Among the strongest performers within this market were electric cargo vehicles, which experienced a remarkable 45% year-over-year growth. This increase is largely attributed to the burgeoning e-commerce sector and the rising demand for last-mile delivery solutions.

Zuperia Auto is capitalizing on this trend, having already successfully deployed electric garbage collection vehicles in key regions, including Delhi-NCR, Andhra Pradesh, and Chhattisgarh. Building on this momentum, Zuperia has secured a significant order to provide 40 electric garbage collection vehicles to the Delhi State Industrial and Infrastructure Development Corporation (DSIIDC) for the Bawana Industrial Area.

CEO Ayush Lohia emphasized the shift in focus within the EV space: “The real opportunity lies beyond personal mobility. With increasing bans on diesel-run vehicles and mounting pressure on municipalities to embrace clean mobility, the cargo and garbage vehicle segments are becoming key areas of growth.”

To meet the rising demand, Zuperia Auto is expanding its production capabilities at its Kashipur facility and is preparing to launch a new range of electric loaders and cargo vehicles under the Youdha brand. These vehicles are designed for last-mile logistics, retail deliveries, and municipal waste management, sectors expected to see rapid expansion across both large cities and smaller towns.

The company’s growth trajectory is further supported by favorable government policies and incentives designed to accelerate EV adoption, as well as the economic benefits of electric three-wheelers, including reduced operational costs and lower emissions. According to projections, cargo and utility EVs are expected to reach 93,000 units in FY 25, with forecasts indicating a rise to over 150,000 units within the next 4-5 years.

“Our institutional sales pipeline has never been stronger,” Lohia remarked. “With in-house R&D, dedicated manufacturing, and the ability to tailor vehicles to meet the needs of institutional clients, Zuperia Auto is well-positioned to lead the next phase of India’s EV revolution.”

As the electric vehicle sector continues to evolve, Zuperia Auto is at the forefront, helping to shape the future of India’s sustainable transportation landscape.
