Honda marked a significant milestone in its electrification journey today with the world premiere of the GAC Honda GT and Dongfeng Honda GT, the flagship models of its exclusive Chinese EV lineup—the 烨 (yè) Series. The unveiling took place at Auto Shanghai 2025, currently underway at the National Exhibition and Convention Center, Shanghai.
Positioned as the second wave of the Ye Series, the GAC Honda GT and Dongfeng Honda GT are built to redefine the EV driving experience with distinct design philosophies. Both vehicles embrace a “low & wide” silhouette, but with unique visual identities—while the GAC Honda GT embodies a seamless, sophisticated future aesthetic, the Dongfeng Honda GT delivers a more emotionally charged, stimulating design.
Innovative Interiors for Individual Experiences
The interior of both GT models is designed to cater to personalized in-car experiences. The driver’s seat mimics a racing cockpit, promising an immersive and dynamic driving sensation. Meanwhile, the front passenger benefits from a far-focus display, engineered to evoke the feel of a large screen, enhancing the entertainment aspect of the journey.
Strategic Collaborations to Shape the Future of Mobility
In a bold move to stay ahead in China’s rapidly evolving EV market, Honda announced several high-tech partnerships aimed at accelerating the development of its Ye Series:
- Momenta Collaboration: Honda will co-develop advanced driver assistance systems with AI-driven tech company Momenta Global Limited, enabling vehicles to autonomously navigate to destinations once set in the onboard navigation system—without reliance on high-definition maps.
- DeepSeek AI Integration: All future Ye Series models will feature AI solutions from Hangzhou DeepSeek AI, enhancing in-car comfort and interactivity. These technologies will also be retrofitted into existing Ye P7 and Ye S7 models via OTA updates.
- CATL Partnership for Electrification: Strengthening its battery capabilities, Honda is teaming up with Contemporary Amperex Technology Co., Limited (CATL) to co-develop a high-efficiency EV platform. The initiative includes the development of lithium-ion phosphate (LFP) batteries for future Ye Series models.
Looking Ahead
With an ambitious goal of achieving carbon neutrality across all operations and products by 2050, Honda is leveraging China’s innovation ecosystem to fast-track its electric mobility transformation. The company affirmed its commitment to swiftly delivering cutting-edge EVs tailored to Chinese consumers’ expectations for smart, safe, and sustainable mobility.
