The 4th edition of a major electric vehicle innovation summit officially commenced today at a leading exhibition venue in Abu Dhabi. Held under the strategic partnership of a key federal energy authority, the event will run until April 23 and is recognized as one of the most prominent gatherings for electric mobility in the MENA region.

The summit has grown into a central platform for showcasing innovation in clean transportation and smart mobility. This year’s edition is organised by a regional events and exhibitions firm, with mobility and innovation partners from both public and private sectors contributing to its execution.

In his opening address, a senior official from the federal energy sector emphasized the summit’s increasing regional influence. He noted that more companies are participating each year to present their latest technologies and connect with influential decision-makers.

“Sustainability is at the core of our national development strategy,” the official said. “Our long-term energy and climate goals are transforming the way we think about energy consumption, with transport playing a crucial role.”

To address concerns such as range anxiety, the UAE has launched a nationwide initiative to expand electric vehicle charging infrastructure. This project is supported by a joint venture between the energy ministry and a national utilities provider. In addition, a collaborative effort is underway with an environmental services company to establish the region’s first battery recycling facility for electric and hybrid vehicles, promoting circular economy practices.

The UAE currently leads the region in electric and hybrid vehicle adoption, accounting for approximately 26% of total vehicle sales in 2024. Officials project that by 2050, carbon emissions from the transport sector could be reduced by more than 400 kilotons.

Among the event’s key highlights is the display of a next-generation autonomous air transport vehicle, offering a glimpse into future mobility solutions. Attendees can also experience a range of interactive features, including an outdoor test drive area, a live performance circuit, and dedicated spaces for charging innovations and business networking.

A multi-day conference programme runs alongside the exhibition, featuring global experts, policymakers, and sustainability advocates discussing the intersection of mobility, energy, and climate action.
