Kia has officially pulled the wraps off its all-new 2026 EV4 electric sedan at the New York International Auto Show, positioning it as a game-changing entry in the compact EV market. As Kia’s first global all-electric sedan, the EV4 blends bold design, next-gen tech, and everyday practicality — all aimed at broadening EV accessibility and appeal.
Built on Kia’s versatile 400V Electric Global Modular Platform (E-GMP), the EV4 marks a fresh take on sedan design, introducing a fastback-inspired silhouette that sets it apart in a market currently dominated by CUVs and SUVs.
“The Kia EV4 breaks the rules of the traditional sedan with its edgy styling, advanced technology and spacious interior,” said David Sherrard, Director of Strategic Planning, Kia Canada.
Design That Dares to Be Different
Drawing inspiration from Kia’s ‘Opposites United’ design philosophy, the EV4 features a modern front fascia with vertical headlamps, the brand’s Star Map lighting, and a bold reinterpretation of the Tiger Face grille. At the rear, vertical taillights and a sleek two-piece spoiler echo the vehicle’s athletic persona, which is emphasized by either 17-inch or 19-inch wheels depending on the trim.
Inside, the EV4 offers a minimalist, human-centric layout headlined by a free-floating digital interface and a unique two-spoke steering wheel. Kia’s use of high-quality materials, dynamic ambient lighting, and spacious cabin proportions enhances the overall in-car experience.
Performance and Range
The EV4 will be available in several trims in Canada — Light FWD Standard Range, Wind FWD/AWD Long Range, Wind Premium FWD/AWD Long Range, GT-Line FWD/AWD Long Range, and GT-Line Limited FWD/AWD Long Range.
Buyers will have the choice between a 58.3 kWh battery for the base Light trim and an 81.4 kWh battery for higher trims. Estimated ranges are 378 km (Light), 531 km (Wind), and 482 km (GT-Line) on a full charge. The EV4 supports DC fast charging, reaching 80% charge in about 29-31 minutes, and includes a standard NACS charging port.
Advanced Tech and Features
The EV4 is equipped with Kia’s i-Pedal 3.0 regenerative braking system and Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) functionality, making it possible to power external devices like laptops or camping gear.
Inside, drivers are greeted by a nearly 30-inch wide digital display integrating dual 12.3-inch screens and a 5-inch climate control panel. Kia’s Digital Key 2.0 enables keyless entry and remote access via smartphone, and OTA updates ensure the system stays current with the latest features.
Comfort touches include heated front seats, available ventilated front seats, dual-zone climate control with rear vents, and a heated steering wheel.
Safety and Driver Assistance
Kia has equipped the EV4 with a full suite of Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS), including standard features like Forward Collision Avoidance Assist, Lane Following Assist, and Driver Attention Warning. Premium trims will also benefit from Highway Driving Assist and Remote Smart Parking Assist.
The EV4 is being produced at Kia’s Autoland Gwangmyeong EVO Plant in South Korea and is expected to hit Canadian showrooms in a range of trims catering to diverse needs and budgets.
With a combination of affordability, cutting-edge features, and eye-catching design, the 2026 Kia EV4 stands poised to make a bold impact in the growing EV market — especially among first-time electric sedan buyers.
