The all-electric Volvo EX90 has been named the 2025 World Luxury Car, earning the prestigious title from the World Car Awards jury for its unmatched blend of luxury, advanced safety, and Scandinavian design excellence.
Announced ahead of the New York International Auto Show in Manhattan, the award celebrates the EX90’s performance, comfort, and sustainability — traits that clearly resonated with the 96-member jury of auto journalists from 30 countries.

The EX90, a fully electric seven-seat family SUV, combines a 510-horsepower twin-motor drivetrain with one of the quietest cabins in its class, delivering a smooth and silent ride. Designed for long-haul comfort, its ergonomic layout, advanced LED lighting, and natural materials reflect Volvo’s modern take on luxury.
Volvo’s eco-conscious approach shines through the use of Nordico, a leather-free, sustainable upholstery made from recycled and bio-based materials sourced from Nordic forests.

Embodying the Scandinavian principle that “form follows function,” the EX90’s sleek yet confident exterior not only improves aerodynamics but also conceals an integrated lidar system, enhancing safety by working in tandem with radar, cameras, and ultrasonic sensors.

This recognition marks Volvo’s third World Car Awards title, joining the 2018 World Car of the Year (XC60) and 2024 World Urban Car (EX30). Samuelsson, a key figure behind Volvo’s electric transformation, also holds the honor of being the inaugural World Car Person of the Year in 2018.
