LG Energy Solution Arizona celebrated a key milestone today with a special event unveiling the opening of its workforce training center and providing a construction update on its upcoming cylindrical battery manufacturing facility.
Hosted at the site in Queen Creek, the event brought together prominent local and state leaders, including Richard Ra, President of LG Energy Solution Arizona; Sandra Watson, President and CEO of the Arizona Commerce Authority (ACA); Danny Seiden, President and CEO of the Arizona Chamber of Commerce & Industry; Pinal County Supervisors Mike Goodman and Jeff Serdy; and Queen Creek Mayor Julia Wheatley.
During the event, Richard Ra announced that construction of the company’s first U.S.-based cylindrical battery facility is now approximately 50% complete. Sample production is expected to begin by mid-2026, with full-scale commercial production anticipated by the end of the year.
The event also marked the official opening of the new workforce training center, established under the state’s Future48 Workforce Accelerator Program, in collaboration with the ACA, Pinal County, and Central Arizona College. The facility is already training LG’s launch team members and aims to support the education of future battery professionals from the local community.
“By 2027, we aim to create 1,500 new employment opportunities, significantly boosting the local economy and positioning Arizona as a national leader in advanced manufacturing,” said Ra.
This Arizona facility is LG Energy Solution’s first cylindrical battery plant in the U.S., reflecting the company’s growing investment in American clean energy manufacturing. It follows the success of LG’s stand-alone pouch battery facility in Holland, Michigan, and complements multiple joint venture facilities with major automakers across the country.
The Arizona plant will produce advanced 46-Series cylindrical batteries, recently secured through supply agreements with leading automakers. With growing demand for “Made in America” energy solutions, the plant is strategically designed to serve evolving electric vehicle (EV) lineups.
Richard Ra emphasized the broader impact of the project: “This facility is more than just a manufacturing plant. It’s a long-term commitment to local workforce development, community partnership, and powering the future of electrification right here in Arizona.”
The project underscores LG Energy Solution’s commitment to building a robust battery ecosystem—supporting not only technological advancement but also regional talent and economic growth.
