Renault has announced an upgraded line-up for its Megane E-Tech electric, featuring a new Esprit Alpine trim, the One Pedal driving mode, and an 11 kW bidirectional charger as standard. These enhancements align with Renault’s commitment to cutting-edge technology, sustainability, and performance in the electric vehicle (EV) market.
Sporty Appeal with Esprit Alpine Trim
Positioned between the Techno and Iconic versions, the Esprit Alpine trim gives the Megane E-Tech electric a sportier, more dynamic look. Key features include:
Exclusive Matte Shadow Grey shade with matching front and rear splitters
20-inch Ice Black alloy wheels and Ice Black Renault logo
Esprit Alpine badging on the front left wing
Black TEP fabric with blue top-stitching inside, giving a premium yet performance-oriented feel
Smoother Driving with One Pedal Technology
The One Pedal feature, developed by Renault’s EV division Ampere, enhances regenerative braking by allowing drivers to accelerate and decelerate using a single pedal. This reduces brake-pad wear, improves energy efficiency, and offers a seamless driving experience, particularly in urban settings. The feature will also be introduced in the upcoming R5 and Scenic E-Tech electric models and may be retrofitted into Megane E-Tech electric units produced after March 2024.
Bidirectional Charging for Energy Efficiency
All Megane E-Tech electric models now come with an 11 kW AC bidirectional charger, with an optional 22 kW AC charger. The Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) adapter enables the car to function as a power source, allowing users to charge small devices such as e-scooters or power home appliances.
In France, Renault is taking this a step further with Vehicle-to-Grid (V2G) technology. Owners with a Mobilize Powerbox Verso charging stand and a Mobilize electricity contract can feed excess energy back into the grid, effectively reducing electricity costs.
Seamless Charging with Plug & Charge
Megane E-Tech electric now supports Plug & Charge, simplifying the charging process. Drivers can plug their car into any compatible DC charging station, and the system will automatically recognize the vehicle, start charging, and handle payments via the My Renault app. This feature, available through the Mobilize Charge Pass, provides access to over 800,000 public charging points across 25 European countries.
New Trim Line-Up and Performance Specs
The updated Megane E-Tech electric range now includes three trims, all equipped with a 220 bhp motor and a long-range battery offering up to 468 km (WLTP):
Techno
Esprit Alpine (New)
Iconic
Pricing details vary by region, with specific pricing for France available on Renault’s official website.
With these updates, Renault continues to innovate in the EV space, blending performance, sustainability, and user-friendly technology to enhance the driving experience.
