The all-new all-electric GLC builds upon the success of Mercedes-Benz’s iconic SUV lineup, setting new standards in performance, efficiency, and driving comfort. As the brand’s best-selling series, the GLC’s addition of an all-electric version marks a significant milestone, offering a diverse range of powertrains to suit various customer needs. The new electric GLC blends cutting-edge technology, impressive performance, and exceptional range, establishing itself as a benchmark in the segment.
Recently, heavily camouflaged prototypes of the electric GLC underwent intense winter testing in Sweden’s polar regions, with temperatures well below freezing and snow-covered roads. Despite the harsh conditions, the vehicle excelled, demonstrating resilience, high efficiency, and long-range capability in extreme cold. The all-electric GLC upheld the Mercedes-Benz reputation for safety, driving comfort, and performance, even in winter conditions.
During these tests in Arjeplog, the new GLC, equipped with 4MATIC all-wheel drive, showcased remarkable handling, responsive traction, and superior driving stability on snowy and icy surfaces. The all-wheel-drive models feature a powerful front-axle drive unit, with torque distribution managed by advanced sensors to optimize traction. The rear axle’s electric drive unit, developed entirely by Mercedes-Benz, delivers impressive power and efficiency, while a state-of-the-art braking system ensures precise and consistent braking feel, maximizing range through energy recuperation.
“Our new electric GLC is a car without compromises – and we test it just as uncompromisingly. During winter testing in Sweden, our new, all-electric GLC demonstrated its reliability and robustness even under extreme conditions. It represents innovation and quality – a fact we have proven in the Scandinavian winter,” said Christoph Starzynski, Vice President Overall Vehicle Development & Integration, Mercedes-Benz Group AG
The all-electric GLC also boasts cutting-edge battery and drive technologies, including an 800-volt architecture that significantly reduces charging times and improves efficiency. With the ability to support DC fast charging at over 320 kW, the GLC’s high-performance batteries are designed for longer ranges and better fuel efficiency, even in cold climates. Additionally, the vehicle’s heat pump system ensures optimal interior comfort with reduced energy consumption, providing efficient heating in winter while maintaining high charging performance.
With these advancements, the new electric GLC proves that electric vehicles can deliver exceptional performance, comfort, and practicality—no matter the weather conditions.
