Kia Corporation introduced the EV4 and Concept EV2 at the 2025 Kia EV Day in Tarragona, Spain, reinforcing its commitment to advancing electric mobility.
EV4: A Bold New Direction for Sedans and Hatchbacks
The EV4, Kia’s first all-electric sedan and hatchback, redefines the C-segment with a fresh take on traditional design. Balancing versatility and practicality, it is engineered for both city driving and long-distance travel. With the campaign theme ‘Your Edge in Motion,’ Kia expands EV choices beyond the usual focus on crossovers and SUVs, bringing a new level of flexibility to electric mobility.
Designed to appeal to the Early Majority segment, the EV4 combines innovative styling, advanced technology, and a seamless electric driving experience. Built on Kia’s 400V Electric Global Modular Platform (E-GMP), it offers two battery configurations: 58.3 kWh (standard) and 81.4 kWh (long-range)—both powering a 150 kW front-mounted motor. Acceleration from 0-100 km/h takes 7.4 to 7.7 seconds, with a top speed of 170 km/h.
A focus on aerodynamics enhances efficiency, with a drag coefficient of just 0.23 Cd. The EV4 sedan delivers an estimated 430 km range in its standard variant and 630 km in the long-range model, while the EV4 hatchback achieves 590 km (WLTP). Fast charging enables a 10-80% charge in 31 minutes, supported by an 11 kW onboard charger compatible with single-phase and three-phase inputs.
Beyond driving, the EV4’s Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) and Vehicle-to-Grid (V2G) features provide additional utility. With 3.6 kVA of power available for appliances and outdoor use, as well as 10 kVA V2G functionality, the EV4 can support home energy needs or serve as a mobile power source. A conveniently placed charging port on the front fender improves accessibility, while a newly designed charging status indicator enhances usability.
Engineered for Comfort, Control, and Performance
Kia has fine-tuned the EV4’s chassis for a balance of agility and ride comfort. The MacPherson strut front suspension and multi-link rear setup integrate advanced SFD3 frequency-responsive dampers and hydro G suspension bushings, minimizing noise and vibration. Structural enhancements improve cornering stability and reduce steering disruptions by up to 50%, creating a more engaging driving experience.
Concept EV2: A Glimpse into Kia’s Future Urban EV
The Concept EV2 previews an upcoming B-segment electric SUV designed for urban mobility. Compact yet versatile, it introduces new ways to interact with city environments, emphasizing smart consumption and digital integration.
Global Production and Market Rollout
Kia’s Autoland Gwangmyeong EVO Plant in Korea will manufacture the EV4 sedan, while the hatchback will be produced in Slovakia for the European market. Production for the Korean sedan model begins in mid-March, with the European hatchback following in the second half of 2025. North America and other regions will receive the EV4 later in the year.
The EV4 will launch in Korea in March, followed by Europe in the latter half of the year, with U.S. sales planned afterward.
With the EV4 and Concept EV2, Kia continues to push boundaries in electric mobility, offering innovative solutions that cater to a wide range of drivers and business users alike.Kia President and CEO, Ho Sung Song, said: “Kia EV Day shows our vision for a sustainable future where electric mobility is accessible to all. The EV4 embodies that vision perfectly as a statement of our commitment to innovative design, cutting-edge technology, and a connected driving experience that excites and inspires. The EV4 marks a significant step forward in our electrification journey, offering advanced technology and a choice of body styles for drivers seeking a seamless transition to electric mobility.”
