Tata Motors Limited reported a decline in its total sales for February 2025, with a total of 79,344 vehicles sold across domestic and international markets, compared to 86,406 units in February 2024. This marks a decrease of approximately 8% year-on-year (Y-o-Y).

Domestic Sales Performance:

Tata Motors’ domestic sales saw a 9% drop, with 77,232 units sold in February 2025, compared to 84,834 units in the same period last year.

The commercial vehicle (CV) segment, which has been a significant contributor to Tata’s domestic performance, experienced a mixed result. While the sales of light commercial vehicles (ILMCV trucks) saw a healthy 11% growth, sales of small commercial vehicles (SCV cargo and pickups) plunged by 20%. Overall, the CV domestic sales for February 2025 stood at 30,797 units, reflecting an 8% decrease from the 33,567 units sold in February 2024.

In the medium and heavy commercial vehicle (MH&ICV) segment, Tata Motors reported 15,940 units sold in February 2025, down from 16,227 units in February 2024, registering a slight decrease.

Passenger Vehicle Performance:

Tata Motors’ passenger vehicle segment, including electric vehicles (EVs), also saw a decline of 9%, with 46,435 units sold in February 2025, down from 51,267 units the previous year. The sales of Tata Motors’ electric vehicles (EVs) dropped by 23%, with 5,343 units sold across both domestic and international markets compared to 6,923 units in February 2024.

However, Tata’s international business (IB) for passenger vehicles reported impressive growth, surging by 596%, with 376 units sold in February 2025, compared to just 54 units in February 2024.

Despite the overall decline in sales, Tata Motors continues to focus on its expansion and growth in various segments, including electric mobility, which remains a key area of focus.

While Tata Motors faced a downturn in its overall sales for February 2025, the company remains committed to adapting to market demands. The strong growth in international sales, particularly in the passenger vehicle segment, highlights potential for continued success in global markets, despite challenges in the domestic market, especially within the EV category.
