Recyclekaro has announced a major expansion of its recycling capacity, increasing its total processing capability to 24,000 tonnes annually at its facility in Palghar, near Mumbai. This expansion significantly boosts the company’s e-waste recycling capacity from 7,500 MT to 24,000 MT per year and its battery recycling capacity from 4,200 MT to 10,000 MT per year. The development strengthens Recyclekaro’s role in advancing India’s circular economy by providing sustainable solutions for e-waste, battery waste, and plastic recycling.
India generates more than 3.2 million tonnes of e-waste every year, with lithium-ion battery waste increasing at a compound annual growth rate of 30%. The expanded capacity of Recyclekaro will help address these challenges, supporting the transition to a cleaner and more sustainable future. The initiative also aims to reduce environmental risks associated with improper battery disposal while recovering valuable materials for reuse. Committed to a zero-disposal approach, the company ensures that all waste is either recycled or repurposed, minimizing landfill waste and promoting sustainability.
Founder and Director Rajesh Gupta stated that Recyclekaro is focused on pioneering innovative recycling solutions using advanced technology and sustainable practices. The company aims to drive India’s transition towards a circular economy, where resources can be reused efficiently.
Recyclekaro’s Palghar facility is equipped with cutting-edge technology that allows for the recovery of critical metals such as lithium, cobalt, nickel, and manganese with over 95% efficiency and 99.5% purity. These metals play a crucial role in the production of energy storage solutions. To date, the company has recycled 26,632 MT of e-waste and 8,432 MT of lithium-ion batteries.
The company partners with leading battery manufacturers, automakers, and renewable energy firms, including Bajaj Auto, Ather Energy, Hero MotoCorp, and Tata Motors. With over 1,350 completed projects and more than 1,200 collection touchpoints, Recyclekaro continues to lead in sustainable waste management.
