Zypp Electric, India’s leading EV-as-a-service platform, in collaboration with Indofast Energy—a joint venture between IndianOil and SUN Mobility—is set to revolutionize last-mile logistics with a massive expansion plan. The company has announced the deployment of 100,000 electric two-wheelers (E2Ws) across key cities over the next 12-18 months, marking a significant milestone in India’s EV adoption journey.

This initiative builds on Zypp Electric’s existing fleet of 10,000+ EVs, leveraging Indofast Energy’s robust battery-swapping infrastructure. The expansion aims to ensure seamless operations and accelerate large-scale EV adoption, particularly in metro cities like Delhi NCR, Mumbai, Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Pune, Lucknow, and Jaipur.

Scaling Up for a Sustainable Future

Zypp Electric has set an ambitious goal of achieving 100% electrification by 2028. The new deployment will help the company scale from 20,000 to 100,000 vehicles within the next 12-18 months and further expand to 500,000 vehicles in the following 36-48 months. The initiative is expected to significantly boost the efficiency of delivery partners and enterprises relying on sustainable last-mile solutions.

A key enabler of this growth is Indofast Energy’s cutting-edge battery-swapping technology. With swap stations strategically placed every 1.5 km in major urban centers like Delhi NCR and Bengaluru, riders can access fully charged batteries in just 60 seconds. This eliminates long charging waits, ensuring maximum productivity and reducing operational downtime.

Industry Leaders Speak on the Expansion

Tushar Mehta, Co-founder & COO of Zypp Electric, highlighted the significance of the expansion, stating, “At Zypp Electric, we are committed to redefining last-mile logistics with sustainable and cost-effective EV solutions. This major expansion will not only strengthen our leadership in India but also propel us towards international markets in Southeast Asia, the Gulf, and Africa. Our partnership with Indofast Energy is instrumental in ensuring seamless EV operations across urban centers.”

Echoing this vision, Rajat Malhan, Senior Vice President of Indofast Energy, emphasized the transformative impact of the initiative. “As we deepen our partnership with Zypp Electric, we are not just expanding our fleet—we are revolutionizing urban mobility. The deployment of 100,000 battery-swappable EVs underscores our commitment to electrifying India’s logistics sector. This move will enhance the lives of delivery partners while contributing to a cleaner, greener future.”

Expanding EV Infrastructure Nationwide

Indofast Energy has ambitious plans to establish 10,000 battery-swapping stations across 50+ cities within the next three years. This expansion will provide a strong alternative to traditional charging, eliminating concerns related to battery cost, maintenance, replacement, and charging time.

As Zypp Electric and Indofast Energy gear up for this transformative phase, their joint efforts signal a major leap toward a more sustainable, efficient, and EV-driven urban mobility landscape in India and beyond.
