Honda Cars India Ltd. (HCIL), a leading premium car manufacturer in India, has announced that all its current models are now certified compliant with E20 (20% ethanol-blended) petrol. The models include the Honda Elevate, Honda City e:HEV, Honda City, and Honda Amaze, alongside the second-generation Honda Amaze, which received E20 certification in January 2025. This milestone underscores Honda’s dedication to sustainable mobility and its support for India’s shift towards greener and cleaner transportation.

Pioneering E20 Compatibility

HCIL has been at the forefront of ethanol fuel compatibility since 2009, ensuring that all Honda cars manufactured in India from January 1, 2009, have been E20 material compatible. This proactive approach guarantees that Honda customers can seamlessly use E20 petrol in their vehicles without any concerns regarding durability or the need for modifications.

Government Mandate on E20 Compliance

The Government of India has mandated that all gasoline-fueled mono-fuel and bi-fuel vehicles with positive ignition engines, including hybrids, manufactured on or after April 1, 2025, must be certified for E20 fuel to comply with existing emission norms. Honda’s early certification aligns with these regulations, reinforcing its commitment to future-ready automotive technology.
