BMW has unveiled the latest iteration of its all-electric Sports Activity Vehicle (SAV), the BMW iX, bringing enhanced performance, increased range, and a refreshed design. With a WLTP range of up to 701 km (435 miles), the new BMW iX strengthens its leadership in the luxury electric mobility segment.
Enhanced Performance and Efficiency
The latest BMW iX lineup features three new model variants:
- BMW iX xDrive45 (408 hp, 5.1 sec 0-100 km/h)
- BMW iX xDrive60 (544 hp, 4.6 sec 0-100 km/h)
- BMW iX M70 xDrive (659 hp, 3.8 sec 0-100 km/h)
Performance gains come from upgraded BMW eDrive technology, featuring optimized power electronics, advanced battery cell technology, and efficiency-enhancing aerodynamic improvements. The new high-voltage battery in the iX xDrive45 now offers a 30% increase in energy capacity, while adaptive recuperation and an advanced MAX RANGE function improve driving efficiency.
Striking Design and M Sport Package
The exterior design now includes a redesigned BMW kidney grille, new adaptive LED headlights, and an available M Sport package that adds bold styling elements. New color options, including Arctic Race Blue, Dune Grey, and Carbon Black, further elevate the model’s premium appeal.
Inside, the M Sport package introduces M multifunction seats, an M leather steering wheel, and high-end trim materials, blending sportiness with BMW’s signature progressive luxury. The latest BMW iDrive system (OS 8.5), with curved display, in-car gaming, and 5G connectivity, ensures a seamless digital experience.
Faster Charging and Smart Route Planning
The new Combined Charging Unit enables DC fast charging up to 175 kW (iX xDrive45) and 195 kW (iX xDrive60 and M70 xDrive), cutting charging times significantly. BMW’s intelligent route planner now factors in charging station availability, estimated charging times, and cost-efficient energy options, offering a smarter EV experience.
Market Availability and Production
Set to launch in spring 2025, the new BMW iX will be available in key markets, including the USA, UK, and Germany. Production will continue at BMW Group’s Dingolfing plant, a hub for the company’s premium and electric models.
With its enhanced power, extended range, and refined luxury, the new BMW iX solidifies its position as a leading force in the evolving landscape of electric mobility.
