Lucid Group, Inc. has revealed details about the Lucid Gravity’s groundbreaking powertrain and charging technology, reinforcing its versatility as both a daily driver and a long-distance travel vehicle. Featuring a NACS charging port, the Gravity offers seamless and rapid charging access.
Starting January 31st, Lucid Gravity will gain direct access to Tesla’s Supercharger network across the U.S. and Canada without needing an adapter. To enable this high-performance charging, Lucid has developed and patented a proprietary technology using its rear motor drive unit to boost charging voltage from 500V to match the 926V Lucid battery pack. Unlike conventional pack-splitting solutions, this advanced system maximizes voltage utilization, reducing cable heat and ensuring optimal efficiency. The result is full compatibility with both 500V and 1000V charging networks, allowing Lucid Gravity owners to charge at the highest possible speed, regardless of the charger available. At peak efficiency, the Gravity can add 200 miles of range in under 12 minutes.
Following initial customer deliveries in December 2024, Lucid Gravity became the first non-Tesla EV sold with a built-in NACS charge port. Positioned on the rear driver’s side, the port allows direct charging at V3 and V4 Tesla Superchargers, as well as the latest 1000V NACS chargers. Additionally, the Gravity comes with CCS1 to NACS and SAE J1772 to NACS adapters, including the industry’s first CCS1 adapter rated for 500A at 1000V. This enables charging at up to 400 kW using the standard NACS connector with a CCS1 fast charger, ensuring unmatched charging flexibility for Lucid Gravity drivers.
