Suzuki has unveiled its first global battery electric vehicle (BEV), the e VITARA, at the Bharat Mobility Global Expo 2025 in New Delhi. This marks the Indian debut of the production model, which was initially showcased in Milan, Italy, in November 2024.

The e VITARA, Suzuki’s flagship BEV, represents a pivotal step in the company’s commitment to sustainable mobility. Slated for production at Maruti Suzuki’s Gujarat plant in spring 2025, the model will be rolled out in multiple markets, including India, Europe, and Japan, by summer 2025.

At the expo, Suzuki displayed eight e VITARA models in various colors, alongside cut-away vehicles and technical exhibits such as the advanced eAxle unit. This technical showcase highlighted Suzuki’s cutting-edge approach to electric mobility.

In a press conference held on January 17, Suzuki’s President reiterated the company’s dedication to fostering BEV adoption in India. “The e VITARA is Suzuki’s first global strategic BEV model, developed after a detailed study of customer needs. In India, we aim to create a comprehensive BEV ecosystem, including accessible charging facilities, to offer our customers a seamless experience,” he stated.

The unveiling of the e VITARA underscores Suzuki’s commitment to driving the shift towards electric mobility, with India playing a central role in its global strategy.
