Mercedes-Benz India has reinforced its position as a leader in the luxury electric vehicle (EV) market with the launch of two highly anticipated battery electric vehicles (BEVs): the G580 with EQ technology and the EQS SUV 450. These new models reflect the company’s ongoing commitment to sustainability and cutting-edge innovation.
G580 with EQ Technology: A New Era for Off-Roading
The G580 with EQ technology marks the entry of the iconic G-Class into the electric age, merging its renowned off-road capabilities with advanced EV features. Exclusively launched as Edition One in India, this model includes AMG Line, Night Package, and unique interior elements tailored for the Edition One version.
Powered by four individually controlled electric motors, the G580 delivers a total output of 432 kW (587 hp) and 1,164 Nm of torque. This enables the vehicle to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in just 4.7 seconds. Equipped with a 116 kWh battery, the G580 offers a range of 473 km (WLTP) and supports DC fast charging, providing an 80% charge in just 32 minutes.
Designed for tough terrains, the G580 features advanced systems like G-TURN for 720-degree rotation, G-STEERING for sharper turns, and enhanced water-wading and climbing capabilities. It also boasts a ground clearance of 250 mm and off-road-specific visual data, setting a new standard in luxury off-roading.
Inside, the G580 features a 12.3-inch dual display system, Burmester 3D surround sound, and MBUX NTG-7 with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Priced at Rs 3 crore (ex-showroom), the G580 blends tradition with modern innovations.
Locally Produced EQS SUV 450: Sustainable Luxury for Families
The EQS SUV 450, manufactured at Mercedes-Benz’s advanced facility in Chakan, Pune, complements the EQS SUV 580 in the company’s EV lineup. This full-size SUV is designed for customers seeking a sustainable yet spacious and luxurious driving experience.
Equipped with dual electric motors, the EQS SUV 450 generates 265 kW (360 hp) and 800 Nm of torque, enabling acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h in 6.1 seconds. The SUV’s spacious interior includes a 3.2-meter wheelbase, providing ample comfort for rear-seat passengers.
Notable features of the EQS SUV 450 include the MBUX Hyperscreen, a seamless display system with a 17.7-inch central OLED screen, and advanced safety features like the Energizing Air Control Plus system with HEPA filtration. It also comes with Mercedes-Benz’s AIRMATIC suspension and a rear-axle steering system with a 10-degree angle for improved maneuverability. The EQS SUV 450 is priced at Rs 1.28 crore (ex-showroom).
