Honda made waves at CES 2025 with the world premiere of two prototype models, the Honda 0 Saloon and Honda 0 SUV, representing its groundbreaking Honda 0 Series electric vehicle (EV) lineup. The company also unveiled its original vehicle operating system, ASIMO OS, which promises to redefine the driving experience through cutting-edge intelligence and software-defined vehicle (SDV) capabilities.
Honda 0 Saloon: Sporty Elegance Meets Next-Gen Technology
The Honda 0 Saloon prototype builds on the concept introduced at CES 2024 and features a sleek, low-profile design paired with a surprisingly spacious interior. Scheduled for a 2026 launch, this flagship model will operate on a dedicated EV architecture and embody Honda’s “Thin, Light, and Wise” development philosophy.
The Saloon will integrate advanced Level 3 automated driving (eyes-off functionality) and ultra-personalized mobility through ASIMO OS, allowing drivers to enjoy a tailored driving experience. Initially set for release in North America, the Saloon will later debut in global markets, including Japan and Europe.
Honda 0 SUV: Spacious Design with Cutting-Edge Dynamics
The Honda 0 SUV prototype, inspired by the Space-Hub concept, is a mid-size EV with an emphasis on interior spaciousness and driver visibility. Leveraging Honda’s robotics expertise, this SUV features high-precision stabilization control and a host of next-gen technologies.
Like the Saloon, the SUV will utilize ASIMO OS for ultra-personalized optimization, digital user experience (UX), and continuous over-the-air updates, ensuring the vehicle evolves with the user’s needs. Production is slated to begin in North America in early 2026.
ASIMO OS: The Heart of Honda’s Software-Defined Vehicles
Named after Honda’s iconic humanoid robot, the ASIMO OS is the core of the Honda 0 Series, integrating control for advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS), infotainment, and vehicle dynamics. With capabilities to evolve through OTA updates, ASIMO OS will provide a tailored and continuously improving mobility experience.
By blending Honda’s robotics advancements with state-of-the-art AI, the OS promises unparalleled vehicle personalization, real-time optimization, and enhanced driver-vehicle interaction.
Level 3 Automated Driving: Expanding Eyes-Off Technology
Honda aims to be the first automaker to offer Level 3 automated driving in all conditions. Building on its success with the Legend sedan, the Honda 0 Series will use advanced AI technologies to expand eyes-off functionality and ensure highly reliable driver assistance, even in complex scenarios.
Partnership with Renesas for High-Performance SoC
Honda and Renesas Electronics Corporation announced a partnership to develop a powerful system-on-chip (SoC) for the Honda 0 Series. Featuring 2,000 TOPS AI performance and 20 TOPS/W power efficiency, the SoC will support the centralized E/E architecture of the series, enabling seamless integration of vehicle functions.
Energy Service Innovations: Redefining EV Utility
Honda is expanding its vision of energy services with initiatives like a global charging network and the integration of EVs into home energy management systems. In partnership with leading firms such as AWS and Emporia Corp., Honda 0 Series vehicles will function as virtual power plants, optimizing energy use and reducing costs for owners.
Global Rollout Begins in 2026
The Honda 0 Series represents Honda’s bold step toward zero environmental impact and enhanced mobility freedom. The production models of the Honda 0 Saloon and SUV will launch in North America in 2026, followed by Europe and Japan.
With the Honda 0 Series, the automaker is set to transform the EV landscape, delivering innovation, personalization, and sustainable mobility on a global scale.
