Kia Corporation announced a new milestone in its history, achieving record-breaking global sales of 3,089,457 vehicles in 2024, marking a modest 0.1% increase compared to the previous year. This achievement is attributed to robust performance in international markets and the successful launch of several new models.
Strong International Sales Offset Domestic Decline
Kia’s 2024 sales in markets outside Korea reached 2,543,361 units, a 1% increase over the previous year. However, sales in Korea declined by 4.2%, totaling 540,010 units.
In December 2024 alone, Kia’s global sales surged 11.8% year-on-year, with 240,537 vehicles sold, compared to 215,156 in December 2023.
Top-Selling Models and New Launches
Leading Kia’s global sales rankings for 2024 were:
Sportage SUV: 587,717 units
Seltos SUV: 312,246 units
Sorento SUV: 280,705 units
The company’s performance was bolstered by the introduction of competitive new models, including the Kia EV3, the new K4 sedan, and the hybrid version of the Carnival MPV. Stabilized industrial conditions and improved production capabilities further supported Kia’s success.
Ambitious Targets for 2025
Building on its 2024 success, Kia aims to achieve 3,216,200 global vehicle sales in 2025, representing a 4% increase. The company’s targets include:
550,000 units in Korea
2,658,000 units in overseas markets
8,200 special purpose vehicles (SPVs)
Strengthening EV Leadership and PBV Growth
Kia plans to expand its EV lineup, launch strategic models, and foster its Purpose-Built Vehicles (PBV) business to maintain its momentum. By doing so, the company seeks to solidify its position as a global leader in electric mobility and sustain its sales growth.
