Honda Motor Co., Ltd. introduced its groundbreaking Honda S+ Shift technology, designed to enhance driving exhilaration in hybrid-electric vehicles (HEVs). The innovation will debut with the all-new Honda Prelude, set for release in 2025, and will feature in all future models equipped with Honda’s next-generation e:HEV hybrid system.
Honda S+ Shift builds upon the Linear Shift Control technology first introduced in 2020, advancing the e:HEV system’s ability to synchronize vehicle speed with engine sound. The result is a dynamic and engaging driving experience that seamlessly links the driver’s inputs with the vehicle’s performance.
Key features include synchronized Active Sound Control (ASC), which amplifies engine sound quality through speakers, and a shift-hold mechanism that enhances steering precision during cornering. The system also introduces paddle shifters, mimicking the feel of a transmission system, despite the absence of a mechanical gearbox in e:HEV vehicles.
