SUN Mobility, a pioneer in electric vehicle (EV) services, has inaugurated a strategically located battery-swapping station at the Hoodi Metro station, a move designed to significantly enhance the convenience and accessibility of EV infrastructure for urban commuters. This station is a key part of SUN Mobility’s broader strategy to optimize battery-swapping technology, which is essential for addressing the challenges of long charging times and enhancing the operational efficiency of EVs in urban environments.
To date, SUN Mobility has deployed battery-swapping facilities at seven out of the 69 stations in the Namma Metro network. This marks a critical milestone in the company’s plan to establish a robust EV infrastructure across Bengaluru, with twelve additional stations slated for launch in the near future. The company’s long-term goal is to create a seamless, accessible EV ecosystem that addresses the key limitations of range anxiety and charging infrastructure in Indian cities.
Maheshwar Rao, Managing Director of the Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL), commented on the strategic importance of this collaboration, stating, “BMRCL is committed to supporting sustainable urban mobility through cutting-edge solutions. Our partnership with SUN Mobility enhances last-mile connectivity and provides a seamless EV experience for Metro commuters, creating significant value for users. We aim to expand this initiative across the city to further transform urban transportation in Bengaluru.”
With the ambitious target of installing 10,000 battery-swapping stations across India by 2028, SUN Mobility is not only addressing the immediate needs of EV users but also contributing to the nation’s transition towards a sustainable and efficient transportation model. This initiative is a vital part of the overall EV ecosystem that will support the growth of electric mobility in India, accelerate the adoption of cleaner transport solutions, and help reduce urban carbon emissions.
