Honda Motor Co., Ltd. has unveiled two electric personal commuters for the Indian market, the ACTIVA e: and QC1, marking a significant stride in its global electric vehicle (EV) strategy. These models, the 12th and 13th of Honda’s target of 30 electric vehicles globally by 2030, are tailored specifically for India’s evolving mobility needs.
ACTIVA e: – The Iconic Scooter Goes Electric
The ACTIVA e: reimagines the legendary ACTIVA, India’s best-selling scooter, into a future-ready electric avatar. Maintaining the trusted design and build of its internal combustion predecessor, the ACTIVA e: features two Honda Mobile Power Pack e: swappable batteries, delivering a cruising range of 102 km (IDC mode).
A robust wheel-side motor produces a rated output of 4.2 kW and a maximum output of 6.0 kW, ensuring reliable performance. Riders can choose from three driving modes—STANDARD, SPORT, and ECON—and even enjoy a reverse mode for easy parking.
The scooter includes Honda’s advanced RoadSync Duo® technology, offering smartphone connectivity via Bluetooth for navigation and calls.
The ACTIVA e: will be available in Bengaluru, the National Capital Territory of Delhi, and Mumbai in spring 2025, alongside Honda’s e:Swap battery-sharing service.
QC1 – A Compact Moped for Urban India
Honda’s second electric offering, the QC1, is designed as a compact, economical solution for short-distance travel, like school commutes. Powered by a 1.5 kWh fixed battery, the QC1 offers a cruising range of 80 km per charge (IDC mode) and can be conveniently recharged at home.
With a lightweight in-wheel motor (rated output: 1.2 kW, max output: 1.8 kW), this moped ensures smooth, quiet rides. Features like a 5-inch LCD instrument panel, under-seat storage, and a USB Type-C port enhance practicality for daily use.
Strengthening India’s EV Ecosystem
Honda is also expanding its e:Swap battery-sharing service to Bengaluru, Delhi, and soon to Mumbai. This service eliminates range anxiety by allowing quick battery swaps instead of lengthy recharges, ensuring uninterrupted mobility.
Global Vision and Local Focus
The launch of ACTIVA e: and QC1 underscores Honda’s commitment to achieving carbon neutrality by 2050. With 2024 being Honda’s flagship year for electric motorcycles, these India-exclusive models reinforce the company’s dual focus on global innovation and local adaptation.
Honda’s latest offerings position the company as a key player in India’s burgeoning electric mobility sector, catering to a diverse audience seeking reliable, eco-friendly transportation.
Honda is taking a bold leap into India’s EV future, combining innovation with the country’s unique preferences. These launches mark another milestone in the journey toward sustainable urban commuting.
