BMW Group’s state-of-the-art facility in Debrecen has reached a major milestone as the production of test vehicles for its Neue Klasse electric models begins. With the first near-series fully-electric X models rolling off the assembly line, the plant is entering its final preparation phase ahead of series production scheduled for late 2025.

“The production of the first test vehicles in Debrecen is an important milestone in commissioning the new plant,” said Milan Nedeljković, BMW AG’s Board Member for Production.

Refining Processes for Series Maturity
As part of BMW’s rigorous preparation, test vehicles are undergoing full production cycles to fine-tune logistics, manufacturing systems, and workforce operations. Each production step and part delivery is scrutinized under real-world conditions, ensuring all elements meet the automaker’s exacting standards.

Daily deliveries of materials and components support this pre-production phase, where cutting-edge systems and digital connectivity tools are thoroughly validated. Insights gained from these tests will drive further refinements in the coming months, with a focus on optimizing efficiency and quality.
