Honda Motor Co., Ltd. (Honda) has announced a groundbreaking partnership with World Athletics, signing on as an official global sponsor for the World Athletics Championships Tokyo 2025 (WCH Tokyo 25). For the first time in the event’s history, Honda will serve as a sponsor, supplying a fleet of electrified vehicles to support the prestigious competition set to take place from September 13-21, 2025, at Tokyo’s National Stadium.

With participants from over 200 countries, the World Athletics Championships is the world’s premier track-and-field competition. As part of Honda’s commitment, its electric vehicles will provide transportation for officials, referees, and athletes, as well as lead marathon races. This initiative supports the event’s sustainability goals by reducing its environmental footprint, aligning with both Honda and World Athletics’ shared commitment to environmentally responsible solutions.

Honda’s Global CEO, Toshihiro Mibe, expressed excitement about the partnership: “Through environmentally-responsible Honda products and technologies, we will contribute to the reduction of the event’s environmental impact. Honda has a passion to support people who are taking on challenges toward their dreams.”

World Athletics President Sebastian Coe also welcomed Honda’s sponsorship, saying, “This partnership brings together two organizations with a shared vision of creating a better future for generations to come. Honda’s contribution of electric vehicles will help minimize the environmental impact of our event and advance our sustainability objectives.”

This will mark the third time the championships are held in Japan, and the second in Tokyo, which previously hosted in 1991. Honda’s involvement underscores its broader vision of inspiring and supporting individuals to pursue their dreams through sports while promoting environmental responsibility.
