Suzuki Motor Corporation has introduced its first mass-production battery electric vehicle (BEV), the e VITARA, at a launch event in Milan, Italy. Slated to enter production at Suzuki Motor Gujarat in India by spring 2025, the e VITARA is expected to be available in Europe, India, and Japan by summer of that year. This model, based on the concept “eVX” showcased in India and Japan, is Suzuki’s inaugural global BEV, embodying a commitment to carbon neutrality and a “High-Tech & Adventure” ethos.
Key Features of the e VITARA
- Striking High-Tech Design: The e VITARA brings a “High-Tech & Adventure” design, combining modern BEV aesthetics with rugged SUV attributes. Its spacious interior features an integrated display and toughened panels, complemented by a bold exterior with large tires and a long wheelbase.
- Efficient BEV Powertrain: Powered by a lithium iron-phosphate battery and eAxle system, the e VITARA promises quick, nimble acceleration, a hallmark of BEV performance.
- ALLGRIP-e Electric 4WD System: The model’s advanced 4WD system uses dual eAxles to enhance performance and control, incorporating a “Trail” mode for off-road handling and precise torque distribution.
- New BEV Platform – HEARTECT-e: Built on the lightweight “HEARTECT-e” platform, the e VITARA boasts a spacious interior, enhanced battery capacity, and increased structural safety.
President Toshihiro Suzuki highlighted the e VITARA’s role in Suzuki’s vision for a carbon-neutral future: “We aim to provide diverse options for customers in various regions through BEVs, hybrids, and CNG vehicles.”
