Volvo Buses has secured a major contract with Transdev Netherlands, marking its largest order for electric buses to date. This order of 46 fully electric buses will support the city of Utrecht’s public transport electrification, with vehicles scheduled to commence operations on December 14, 2025.

The buses, which showcase a new front design and upgraded driver comfort and safety features, are part of Volvo Buses’ formal collaboration with MCV, which supplies the bus bodies. The new vehicles will incorporate Volvo’s advanced active safety systems focused on protecting pedestrians and cyclists, alongside a modernized driver station that includes a dynamic instrument cluster and redesigned control panel.

In addition to the bus order, Volvo Buses and Transdev have entered a Usable Energy Commitment, guaranteeing the energy necessary for bus operations over the next decade. Bas Dubois, Managing Director of Volvo Buses Benelux, expressed pride in the partnership’s milestone, noting that “this order shows the confidence Transdev has in Volvo Buses as a strong partner for operating electrified public transport.”
