General Motors (GM) has been inducted into the Indiana Manufacturers Hall of Fame, a prestigious recognition celebrating the company’s long-standing contributions to Indiana’s economy and its commitment to local communities. The induction was announced during a special luncheon, where GM joined other honorees acknowledged for their impact on the state’s manufacturing sector.

Formed in 1901, the Indiana Manufacturers Association works to foster a favorable business climate and annually honors organizations that drive economic growth in Indiana. GM, which has had a presence in the state for over 80 years, has invested more than $2.8 billion in its Indiana operations over the past decade. The company employs nearly 6,000 people across seven facilities, while collaborating with more than 400 suppliers throughout the state, thereby creating thousands of jobs through its local partnerships.

“GM’s Indiana Legacy and Commitment to the Future”

Indiana has played a significant role in GM’s history and future plans. Mark Pervine, who serves as Vice President of GM’s Components Sector, emphasized the state’s importance, stating, “Indiana is core to GM’s DNA – and it has been central to my own career journey.” Pervine, an alumnus of Indiana Wesleyan University and Purdue University, began his career with GM at Bedford Casting Operations 24 years ago. Today, he oversees three major facilities in Indiana: Bedford Casting Operations, Kokomo Operations, and Marion Metal Center. These sites produce essential components for GM’s extensive product lineup, supporting the company’s overall manufacturing strategy.

Additionally, GM is poised to strengthen its presence in the state through a joint venture with Samsung SDI to establish a new electric vehicle battery manufacturing plant in New Carlisle, set to open in 2027.

“A Bright Future for GM in the Hoosier State”

The induction into the Indiana Manufacturers Hall of Fame is a testament to the dedication and expertise of GM’s Indiana team members. Pervine expressed his pride in the recognition, stating, “Our team is honored to be recognized by the Indiana Manufacturers Hall of Fame. The award is a testament to the great work of our team across the state and the thousands who have worked at GM Indiana facilities over the last century.”

As General Motors continues to drive innovation in the automotive industry, its commitment to Indiana’s communities and manufacturing sector remains steadfast. The company’s focus on advancing electric vehicles and supporting local jobs ensures a promising future for GM and the Hoosier State.
