LG Energy Solution launched its new brand for battery management total solution (BMTS) services, named ‘B.around,’ revealing its logo and slogan, “Be Around Your Side.” This new initiative marks the company’s strategic expansion beyond traditional battery manufacturing, emphasizing enhanced customer value and safer battery use.
The B.around brand aims to provide a more advanced battery management experience compared to conventional systems. Unlike traditional battery management systems (BMS) that focus on basic parameters like voltage, current, and temperature, B.around offers comprehensive solutions. These include software for safety diagnostics, battery degradation monitoring, and specialized support for software-defined vehicle (SDV) platforms.

The B.around brand name and its slogan signify LG Energy Solution’s dedication to staying close to customers, ensuring continuous monitoring of battery conditions to enhance safety. Brandon Kim, Head of the BaaS (Battery-as-a-Service) Business Development Department at LG Energy Solution, highlighted the brand’s vision: “Like B.around’s brand vision, our goal is to always be close by so that we can provide differentiated customer value based on the technological capabilities we have accumulated over the decades.”

The B.around lineup encompasses both software and hardware solutions, offering a robust range of services to ensure optimal battery performance. Key features include:
- Safety Diagnostics Software: This preemptively detects potential issues such as thermal events, providing early alerts for user safety.
- Battery Degradation Diagnostics: It predicts future battery capacity, helping users maximize battery lifespan.
- SDV Platform Solutions: Incorporating System-on-Chip (SoC), cloud, and AI computing, these solutions are designed for next-generation vehicle needs, developed in partnership with industry leaders like Qualcomm Technologies.
LG Energy Solution’s BMTS technologies are built on extensive experience, derived from analyzing over 130,000 battery cells and 1,000 battery modules. The company boasts over 8,000 BMS-related patents, and its software has already been implemented in over 100,000 electric vehicles (EVs), achieving a safety detection accuracy rate of more than 90% and a battery degradation diagnosis error rate in the 1% range.
Future Vision and Expansion
With the launch of B.around, LG Energy Solution is targeting global automakers, planning to roll out these new products worldwide. The company is also advancing its Battery-as-a-Service (BaaS) business, using its BMTS expertise and battery lifecycle data to support a sustainable EV ecosystem.
