Bengaluru-based deep-tech startup iGowise Mobility (iGo) is preparing to launch its latest innovation, BeiGo, a heavy-duty electric pickup trike, aimed at the eCommerce and logistics sector. The launch, set for Diwali, comes as iGo seeks to address the growing demand for sustainable, last-mile delivery solutions in India’s burgeoning quick commerce market. The company plans to roll out 6,000 BeiGo trikes over the next 18 months, partnering with major eCommerce players such as BBNow, Flipkart Minutes, and Swiggy Instamart.
The BeiGo trikes, designed specifically for high-load, last-mile delivery, will be deployed under a rider-to-owner model. This initiative aims to make the transition to electric vehicles more accessible for logistics workers by offering affordable financing options in collaboration with sustainable vehicle financier EvateTech. iGo is introducing innovative pricing models like VaaS (Vehicle as a Service) and BaaS (Battery as a Service), users to rent the trikes with no upfront costs and pay as little as INR 100 for up to 40 kilometers. Additionally, the BaaS model will allow users to subscribe to battery services starting at INR 1 per kilometer, regardless of credit history.
iGo’s Co-founder and Chief Executive, Sravan Kumar Appana, highlighted the significant impact BeiGo could have on the logistics sector, stating, “Currently, 50% of logistics costs stem from last-mile operations. Our goal with BeiGo is to provide a cost-effective, high-capacity alternative that reduces the physical strain on delivery riders, while our flexible pricing models can help them earn up to INR 40,000 per month.” Appana also pointed to the urgent need for eCommerce companies to embrace electric vehicles, as most have pledged to fully electrify their fleets by 2035.
The BeiGo trike, with a range of up to 150 kilometers and a top speed of 70 km/h, will be available in two variants: one with a 3.6 kWh battery and a premium version with a 4.4 kWh dual battery pack. Both models will feature swift 2-hour home charging, compatibility with fast charging stations, and an innovative self-balancing system. Pre-booking for the BeiGo trikes will begin in the Bengaluru region this Diwali, with availability on the iGowise website and leading eCommerce platforms.
iGo has also secured partnerships with light EV original equipment manufacturers (OEMs), after-sales service providers, and financiers to support the quick commerce industry. With 12 patents to its name, iGo promises a 48-hour service turnaround to address concerns about electric vehicle maintenance.
Rahul Dinakaran, Head of Industrial Automation at BigBasket, praised the collaboration, stating, “As we move into super-fast delivery services, solutions like iGo’s high-speed trikes will play a critical role in reducing rider fatigue and improving road safety, while also supporting our sustainability goals.”
In a bid to promote gender diversity in logistics, iGo has partnered with NGOs to ensure that at least 30% of its delivery fleet will be comprised of women. The company is also exploring opportunities to expand its operations internationally, collaborating with manufacturers to license its technology and modular platform, allowing other companies to develop their own light EV brands.
