Ford Motor Company is extending its long-standing tradition of community support in the wake of Hurricanes Helene and Milton, deploying a range of relief initiatives across the Southeast. In partnership with Team Rubicon, the American Red Cross, and Feeding America, Ford is contributing funds, vehicles, and volunteer expertise to assist communities severely impacted by the recent storms.
Supporting Frontline Efforts
Ford Philanthropy is matching donations up to $600,000 for its disaster relief partners, including Team Rubicon, the American Red Cross, and Feeding America. The company is also supplying grants to local organizations and has allocated Pro Power Onboard-equipped vehicles to assist in areas with power outages.
Team Rubicon Mobilizes for Recovery
Team Rubicon, a veteran-led disaster relief organization, has deployed route clearance teams in Florida, Georgia, and the Carolinas to respond to Hurricane Helene’s destruction and is currently assisting communities affected by Hurricane Milton. Ford Philanthropy’s $100,000 donation match supplements the company’s $5.8 million, five-year partnership with Team Rubicon, which includes a dedicated fleet of F-150 trucks, Super Duty trucks, and Broncos. These vehicles are essential for navigating difficult terrain and supporting relief operations in the aftermath of the hurricanes.
Volunteerism at Ford
In support of on-the-ground efforts, Ford has expanded its Volunteer Paid Time Off policy, providing employees with 56 hours of paid time off for disaster relief work. Ford recently hosted a training session in Texas for employees and dealers, encouraging participation in Team Rubicon’s efforts. Bill Ford, Executive Chair, joined to rally volunteers, emphasizing the company’s commitment to aiding affected communities.
Partnering with the Red Cross and Feeding America
The American Red Cross, with a 75-year history of collaboration with Ford, has deployed nearly 500 disaster workers and emergency response vehicles to assist with immediate relief efforts. Meanwhile, Ford’s support for Feeding America has helped provide 150 pallets of bottled water for those in need and facilitated over 4,000 volunteer hours from Ford employees this year alone.
Local Relief Initiatives
Ford Philanthropy is also focusing on hyperlocal support through grants to the United Way of Citrus County, United Way of East Tennessee Highlands, and Asheville Area Habitat for Humanity. These efforts aim to address the immediate needs of residents in hard-hit regions, including providing care to vulnerable populations through a collaboration with the Hispanic Federation.
Ford’s local dealerships have played a key role in relief efforts, offering fleets of loaner vehicles equipped with Pro Power Onboard to assist with power needs. Dublin Ford, for instance, served 1,200 barbecue meals to residents without access to water or electricity, while Ford’s BlueOval City and the Lima Engine Plant organized donation drives and sent supplies to East Tennessee communities.
Financial Relief for Ford Customers
Ford Credit and Lincoln AFS are offering up to 60-day payment extensions for eligible customers in FEMA-designated disaster areas. Customers can apply for these extensions through Ford’s online platforms or contact Ford Credit directly.
Ford’s multifaceted relief initiatives underscore its commitment to supporting communities in times of crisis, offering both immediate assistance and long-term recovery support. With these efforts, the company aims to bring stability and hope to those affected by the devastation of Hurricanes Helene and Milton.
