UAEV, a joint venture between the UAE Ministry of Energy and Infrastructure (MoEI) and Etihad Water and Electricity (Etihad WE), has announced a new strategic initiative aimed at accelerating the expansion of the UAE’s electric vehicle (EV) infrastructure. As part of this effort, UAEV has signed an agreement with Ras Al Khaimah Transport Authority (RAKTA) to install and operate EV charging stations across the emirate, supporting the country’s Net Zero 2050 Strategy.
The agreement was signed by Eng. Yousif Ahmed Al Ali, Board Member of UAEV, and H.E. Eng. Esmaeel Hasan Al Blooshi, Director General of RAKTA. Both parties reaffirmed their commitment to advancing sustainable mobility and reducing carbon emissions in line with national goals.
“We are fully committed to supporting the UAE’s Net Zero Strategy by advancing sustainable mobility through a range of projects targeting key sectors across the country,” said Eng. Yousif Ahmed Al Ali. He emphasized that the collaboration with RAKTA is expected to significantly reduce emissions from the transportation sector, while promoting economic growth and environmental sustainability.
Eng. Al Ali further highlighted that the agreement would help accelerate the adoption of electric vehicles by providing the necessary infrastructure to meet growing demand. “This initiative empowers consumers to make environmentally responsible choices by embracing eco-friendly technologies,” he added.
H.E. Eng. Esmaeel Hasan Al Blooshi, Director General of RAKTA, stated that Ras Al Khaimah Transport Authority is dedicated to advancing the UAE’s Climate Neutrality Strategy by 2050. “Our agreement with UAEV is a vital step toward promoting sustainable transportation, in line with RAKTA’s Green Mobility Strategy 2023-2040,” said Al Blooshi.
He also noted that the agreement aims to provide accessible EV charging stations across various geographic areas in Ras Al Khaimah, enhancing the transition to electric vehicles and contributing to efforts to reduce carbon emissions. “This collaboration reflects our commitment to a sustainable future for coming generations,” Al Blooshi added.
Under the agreement, UAEV will manage all aspects of the project, including installation, maintenance, and data management, while RAKTA will provide site access and support through existing infrastructure. The charging stations will be strategically located to serve a broad range of users, fostering wider adoption of EVs throughout the emirate.
UAEV, the first nationwide EV charging network fully owned by the Government of the United Arab Emirates, is dedicated to building fast and advanced infrastructure to support the country’s transition to a sustainable and eco-friendly transportation system.
