Lexus has officially introduced groundbreaking enhancements to its iconic LX series, launching the all-new LX 700h, the brand’s first electrified model in the lineup. This innovative hybrid system is designed to maintain the famed reliability, durability, and off-road capabilities of the LX, while embracing a new era of electrification.
The LX 700h, featuring a newly developed parallel hybrid system, pairs a 3.5L V6 twin-turbo engine with a motor generator (MG), delivering robust performance across all terrains. With a phased global release starting in late 2024, this flagship SUV demonstrates Lexus’ commitment to luxury, eco-consciousness, and superior driving experiences.
The vehicle’s advanced hybrid architecture ensures seamless transitions between motor-only and engine-only modes, optimizing power delivery according to driving conditions. Notably, the LX 700h preserves its off-road prowess, incorporating full-time 4WD, a Lo-range transfer case, and a torque converter-equipped automatic transmission.
To cater to adventurous drivers, Lexus also introduced the new OVERTRAIL edition of the LX 700h, featuring unique exterior and interior designs inspired by the Lexus Overtrail Project, further enhancing the off-road performance and visual appeal.
With a focus on environmental sustainability, the LX 700h is equipped with a waterproof battery tray, allowing for water fording up to 700 mm. Lexus claims this capability is comparable to that of traditional engine vehicles, ensuring the hybrid model retains its rugged off-road identity while improving emissions.
In addition to its enhanced hybrid system, the LX 700h offers an external power supply function with outlets capable of providing up to 2,400 W, making it ideal for outdoor activities or emergency situations.
Takami Yokoo, Lexus International Chief Engineer, expressed enthusiasm for the new model, stating: “Our goal was to electrify the LX without compromising the core qualities that customers cherish—reliability, durability, and off-road performance. The LX 700h delivers on this promise, allowing customers to experience luxury and sustainability on any road.”
With its sophisticated blend of electrification, luxury, and performance, the Lexus LX 700h signals a bold new chapter for the brand as it steers towards carbon neutrality.
