Ford Motor Company outperformed the U.S. automotive industry in the third quarter of 2024, posting a 4% rise in retail sales compared to a 2% industry-wide decline. Total Ford sales increased 1% year-over-year, driven by strong demand for hybrids, electric vehicles, and trucks.

Ford’s hybrid sales soared 38%, with the automaker maintaining a 77% share in the hybrid truck segment, largely due to the F-150 Hybrid and Maverick. Electric vehicle sales were up 12%, reinforcing Ford’s position as the No. 2 electric vehicle brand in the U.S. behind Tesla.

“Different lifestyles and use cases require unique types of power,” said Andrew Frick, president of Ford Blue and Ford Customer Service Division. “We’ve listened to customers, and their response validates our product strategy.”

Ford’s F-Series continues its dominance, leading truck sales with over 550,000 units sold through September, while the Explorer remains the best-selling three-row SUV in the U.S. for 2024, with Q3 sales up 25%.
