Hyundai Motor Company and Škoda Group have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to collaborate on the development of a hydrogen mobility ecosystem. The agreement was formalized during the Korea-Czech Republic Business Summit held in Prague. Key representatives at the signing ceremony included Ken Ramírez, Executive Vice President and Head of Global Commercial Vehicle and Hydrogen Business at Hyundai, and Petr Novotný, CEO of Škoda Group.

The MOU outlines a joint effort to explore the adoption of hydrogen fuel cell systems and technologies, energy-efficient solutions for mobility projects, and opportunities within the hydrogen ecosystem beyond mobility applications. This partnership aims to accelerate the transition to hydrogen-based energy solutions, contributing to the advancement of hydrogen technology and the global push for carbon neutrality.

Škoda Group CEO Petr Novotný echoed these sentiments, underscoring the role of hydrogen in sustainable mobility. “Hydrogen and energy-efficient solutions are pivotal in transforming mobility. By working with Hyundai, we aim to bring innovative, eco-friendly solutions to a broader global market,” Novotný said.

Both companies agree that hydrogen will be a foundational element for a sustainable future, starting with mobility. Hyundai plans to share its fuel cell systems and technology, facilitating the adoption of hydrogen-powered mobility solutions in regions where Škoda operates, including the Czech Republic.

In addition to mobility, Hyundai and Škoda will explore the use of hydrogen fuel cells in other sectors. Hyundai, leveraging its experience across various hydrogen applications in both mobility and energy sectors, will play a leading role in these developments.

Hyundai’s commitment to a hydrogen society is embodied in its HTWO brand, which encompasses the Group’s entire hydrogen value chain. Hyundai’s manufacturing plant in Nošovice, Czech Republic, with an annual capacity of 350,000 vehicles, is a significant player in the European automotive industry and contributes to the Group’s long-term hydrogen strategy.
