Honda is set to showcase cutting-edge mobility technology at the Japan Mobility Show BIZWEEK 2024, an event aimed at promoting new business collaborations. As part of its display, Honda will feature its hands-free personal mobility solution, UNI-ONE, along with its pioneering electric bicycle conversion service, SmaChari, inviting potential business partners to explore joint ventures and collaborations.
At the Honda booth, visitors will experience UNI-ONE, a seated personal mobility device that allows users to move freely while keeping their hands available for other tasks. Honda’s proprietary Omni Traction Drive System and balance control technology give users the ability to move at pedestrian height, fostering seamless communication while on the move. To enhance the user experience, Honda will incorporate augmented reality (AR) and virtual reality (VR) demonstrations, providing an immersive way for participants to understand the future of hands-free mobility.
Honda’s SmaChari: Electrifying the Bicycle Industry
Honda will also introduce SmaChari, a first-of-its-kind service in Japan, designed to convert conventional bicycles into electrically assisted, connected rides by attaching an electric power-assist unit and integrating a smartphone app. This system offers advanced functions like assist output optimization, fault detection, and location sharing, all powered by a smartphone interface. The app also provides detailed ride data management and personalized user settings, making biking a more interactive and efficient experience.
As part of its broader strategy, Honda is inviting business partners to collaborate on expanding the reach of SmaChari. The company will offer licenses and technology related to the electric power-assist unit and provide access to a paid connected platform for managing SmaChari’s services.
IGNITION and Honda Xcelerator Ventures
In addition to these innovations, Honda will present its IGNITION and Honda Xcelerator Ventures programs, aimed at fostering new business ideas and encouraging collaboration with startups. Both initiatives align with Honda’s vision of solving social challenges through mobility and open innovation.
With these innovative technologies on display, Honda aims to create a dialogue with companies looking to shape the future of mobility at the Japan Mobility Show BIZWEEK 2024.
