JSW MG Motor India has announced the expansion of its innovative Battery-as-a-Service (BaaS) program to include the popular MG Comet EV and MG ZS EV models, aiming to revolutionize the passenger electric vehicle (EV) market in India. The BaaS initiative was initially launched with the MG Windsor and has received positive responses from customers.
Under this program, customers can purchase the MG Comet EV starting at ₹4.99 lakh, with a battery rental fee of ₹2.5 per kilometer. Meanwhile, the MG ZS EV is available from ₹13.99 lakh, along with a battery rental of ₹4.5 per kilometer. This structure allows customers to pay only for the battery usage, making EV ownership more affordable and accessible.
Moreover, the BaaS program offers an added advantage with a guaranteed 60% buyback value after three years, enhancing the overall ownership experience for customers.
Satinder Singh Bajwa, Chief Commercial Officer of JSW MG Motor India, commented, “The BaaS program simplifies EV ownership, making our vehicles more accessible. Following the strong response to Windsor, we are extending this model to the Comet and ZS EVs, which will further drive EV adoption in India.”
The BaaS program is supported by a robust network of financial partners, including Bajaj Finserv, Hero Fincorp, Vidyut, and Ecofy Autovert, ensuring a seamless transition to electric mobility for customers across the country.
The MG Comet EV is designed with a compact exterior and a spacious interior, offering a certified range of 230 km on a single charge, along with more than 55 i-SMART features. The MG ZS EV, recognized as India’s first pure electric internet SUV, comes equipped with a 50.3 kWh battery pack, providing a certified range of 461 km per charge.
As JSW MG Motor India continues to innovate in the EV space, the BaaS program represents a significant step towards making electric mobility more accessible and attractive to Indian consumers.
